How much does it cost to build a home?

The cost of building a home can vary significantly depending on a number of factors, including site location, servicing requirements, architectural style, and quality of finishes, That’s why it’s so important that, from our very first meeting onward, we have a clear understanding of the project, both your investment and your requirements, to ensure that we can control costs. 

How long does it take to build a home?

The length of construction will vary depending on the size and complexity of the design, however, on average it takes 12 months to build a home. When it comes to the design, again depending on the complexity, it typically takes anywhere from 6-12 months.

When is the ideal time to engage you as a builder in the design and development of my project?

While we work with clients in all stages of construction, our strength is in ‘design assist’ where we are involved in the early stages of planning. This gives us the opportunity to work directly with an architect or designer to determine the best way to achieve everything on your wishlist. By having us on board right from the beginning, we are able to represent your best interest every step of the way.

I don’t have a lot purchased yet. Is it too early to meet with you?

Not at all. We are more than happy to meet with you and provide building consultation on prospective lots you may be considering. We can even help provide information on costs related to building on specific lots, servicing requirements and how complex it might be to build on a given lot.

Do I need to have plans designed before we meet?

We are very experienced with connecting our clients with a design team that best suits their needs, both from a style and budget perspective. So it is no problem at all if you don’t already have plans drawn up. In fact, having our team engaged throughout the design process allows us to provide costing and value engineering design assistance, which can help maximize your wish list while keeping within the established budget parameters of your project.

How will I know what decisions to make and by when?

In the spirit of transparency, we always provide a detailed construction schedule with all your required decisions and the dates these decisions need to be made to keep your project on track. We review this schedule with you regularly and keep you notified of upcoming decision dates. Our clients have told us time and again that this part of the experience was invaluable in alleviating the stresses involved in having to make as many decisions as is required when building a home

I don’t live locally. Will this make it hard for me to be involved in the building process?

Not at all, in fact many of our clients live out of town or even out of province. We maintain regular communication with all our clients through face-to-face meetings, video calls, phone calls, and emails. We regularly send photographs of different stages of the building process to keep you in the loop and informed. We’re excited about the progression of your project and want to share that excitement with you, even if you can’t be here to see each stage in person.

Do you provide interior design services?

Yes, we do offer interior design services and we love working on that aspect of the project with our clients. That being said, for our clients who choose to work with an outside interior designer when designing and building their home, we are always happy to help to facilitate that process in any way that we can.

I’ve had bad experiences with untrustworthy builders in the past. How will this be different?

Unfortunately, this is a common question our clients ask before working with us. We’re glad you’re asking and hope you feel comfortable being completely honest with us about the aspects of this process that scare you the most. The honesty you bring to the table will help us be even more intentional and transparent in areas that make you uneasy.

We always go above and beyond to provide you with accurate information from the beginning of the process, we have a detailed project management structure, employ high quality team members and have extensive knowledge when it comes to custom home build. These steps create a clear system of checks and balances, which help everyone involved (including our team) have an enjoyable and smooth experience
